Impact of Technology on Music Creation and Experience
Interdisciplinary Research: How Advances in Technology Have Influenced the
Evolution of the Music Industry explores the profound impact that technological
innovations have had on the music industry. This research investigates how key
disciplines—media studies, business, and computer science—address the
technological shifts that have redefined music production, distribution, and
consumption. It examines the transition from traditional models to digital platforms
like streaming services, the rise of AI in music composition and recommendation,
and the role of social media in artist marketing. The paper poses critical questions
about the ethical and financial implications of these changes, considering the
influence of technology on diversity in music production and the evolving artist-fan
relationship.
EDC Las Vegas Paper
This personal reflection essay recounts my experience attending EDC Las Vegas in
May 2023, the largest music festival in North America. I describe how performances
by artists like SVDDEN DEATH, Marshmello, and Alison Wonderland deepened my
appreciation for the diversity and emotional power of electronic dance music. The
paper also explores how the festival's culture of Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect
(PLUR) left a lasting impact on my views about music, connection, and community.
Report on why Underground Artists Struggles to Gain Recognition
This research report critically examines the tension between opportunity and
inequity in the electronic music industry, particularly as it affects underground and
emerging artists. Through a dual-perspective approach, the paper explores both the
democratizing power of digital distribution and the persistent structural barriers
that prevent many artists from achieving meaningful recognition. Using data
visualizations and industry sources, the report provides a balanced,
interdisciplinary analysis that blends media studies, cultural analysis, and music
industry research.
